2017

In recent weeks there has been a lot of change within the Braves organization. The new General Manager made a trade the other day that sent Jason Heyward and Jordan Walden to the St. Louis Cardinals. The rumor mill has been talking about how the Braves are entering a rebuilding mode.

Rebuilding mode has me excited to be a Brave. I don’t say this because I’m glad that the team is projected to be worse for a few years but because this means that, hopefully, the organization will be looking internally to fill the ranks of the new age Braves. I’ve seen the year 2017 thrown out a few times for when the team will be in competition again.

A goal of mine is to pitch for the Braves at the new stadium, which now happens to be when the Braves are considered to a competitive team again. Maybe I’m thinking too far ahead, maybe I’m just dreaming, but I think I can be apart of what the Braves want to become.

I don’t think it’s an unrealistic goal to have and I wouldn’t make it a goal of mine if I didn’t think it was unattainable. Every day of the offseason and every day of the season is aimed at getting to the major leagues and if that isn’t the goal then I’m not sure why guys are playing.

Anyways, just a quick update on what I have been thinking about lately with the shuffling pieces of the Braves. It is an exciting time to be apart of the organization moving forward.

Who knew…

For the past few weeks I have been working on getting certified to be a substitute teacher. I had no idea that there was so much paperwork because every sub I ever had came ion class and popped in a movie.

One of the weirdest things I had to do for subbing was getting a tuberculosis test. I always thought that if I had tuberculosis I would know by now but that isn’t the weirdest part. You have to pay to get the rest, which hey I get it CVS needs money, but to see your results you have to pay again.

After the testing, the finger printing, the style of teaching application, all I have left is a substitute orientation to be entered into the season.

It will be nice to get back involved with the schools that I went to and give back to the community. I’ve been home for three weeks and honestly been bored without baseball practice. The sub schedule is from 8 am to 3pm everyday and varies some depending on each individual school. Being done at 3pm everyday allows plenty of time for relaxation and training.

That’s all I have for now, but when I start teaching I’m sure I will have some stories to tell.
